Doing it yourself sounds like a mugs game

    (a) you need to make sure the film is street legal (if it's too dark, reflective, etc.)

    (b) you have to make sure you don't get any bubbles.

€70 - it would proabably cost that to buy the film yourself. And you'd want to make sure the windows are clean. Very clean. You can prick bubbles with a needle. But you would need to practise first as it's dead easy to get them.

Wouldn't it be nice to have cars with photochromic glass.

Pay the €70 and suck it up -- as Midnight says the tints'll cost more than half that anyway, unless you buy the crap they sell in auto accessory shops. DIY tints is totally not worth the hassle unless you're willing to take the window off the car and get into a bath with it. Seriously.

If the rear window is more or less flat you might have a chance but if it's curved like most then it's definitely worth the €70 to get it done right! You'll easy waste €70's worth of tinting film trying to do it yourself (If you haven't done it before) and it still won't be right in the end!
If you're detemined to have a go at it yourself make sure the glass is spotlessly clean, use tons of soapy water (on both the film and the window and do it in a garage or somewhere where there is no dust and no wind.... Oh yea, and don't forget, if it's a curved window, figure out before hand how you're going to curve the film to match: heat it? cut it?
The bubbles can be the easiest bit to sort
