I know there is a sticky for tactics generally but I was wondering if anyone had any tips regarding tactics for FM05. I have been using a flat back 4, a dm, 3 cm with the middle guy moving forward to support my 2 strikers and it has worked well so far but it is going a bit stale now.

    Anyone got any fresh ideas?

    I play last man back.

I use nearly the same tactics you do except the MC doesnt move up the field

    i play a flat back 4, one DM, 1CM, 2 wingers, 1AMC and a striker.
    Though sometimes i change it to 3CD, 1DM, 1CM, 2 wingers, 2 AMC and a striker.

though when you have Kaka and Ronaldhino and Lampard. on the one team ya kinda have to!!

Basic 4-4-2. One defesive minded CM and one attacking. Sometimes change to a 4-5-1 for away games

Wingers at half runs. Worked for me so far :D

Well, if you're the computer and you're playing as Ireland against Argentina, and there's 5 mins left of the last WC06 group game and all you need is to keep a clean sheet to top the group, then apparently going for a 1-4-3 (1 sent off, 1 injured) is the way to go.

Personally, I follow the same pattern as Pacifico.

I find 3 DC, 2 DMC, Winger right & left, AMC and 2 FC works wonders

    i use 4 def 3cm 1am and 2 strikers(4-3-1-2). have am on a free role. works better than wen i used 4-4-2. i was 7/8th with 4-4-2 and i'm top with 4-3-1-2

3 DC, 2 Wing Back, 2 CM, 1 ACM, 2 ST, goals galore and horrendous numbers of clean sheets! :D

I've just started a game with Inter. I play a flat back 4. Cambiasso in DMC, Veron ahead of him and Stankovic and Recoba on the wings. Adriano and Martins up front. After 5 league games I've conceded just one goal and scored a load too.

Basic 4-4-2, an attacking version and a defensive counterattacking version depending on whether I'm at home or away and how good the opposition is.
