I dunno how many people here have an interest in historic racing but its a passion for me and one of the men who inspired and fueled my interest was an author named Chris Nixon. I have a number of his books, they are not coffee table motor books but extensive historical accounts, brilliantly researched, superbly written filled with photos and anecdotes. Topics covered included 1930s racing - the auto union/mercedes battles, Richard seaman, Rosemeyer, 50s racing - the Ferrari/Lancia/Merc GP and Ferrari/Aston GT battles, the extraordinary friendship and mirrored careers of Collins and Hawthorn in "mon AMi Mate" and his final book "Kings of Nurburgring" only published a few weeks ago, I've hardly even opened its covers yet.

He was a hero for me, I was itching to know what was coming next.

    RIP Chris
