"Extra" FTA analouge channels on NTL Belfast

    Discovery Animal Planet, TCM and Sky Movies 2 seem to be FTA at the moment. Several other channels are still encrypted including (inexplicably) NTL's text promo channel Oh and some channels appear on more than one frequency (a bit of a waste) :rolleyes:

    And why are NTL still transmitting the soundtrack to the film channels and MTV on FM, Surely in this day and age anyone who wants stereo (or surround) sound has a NICAM set and/or a digital box :confused:

    Sky movies 2 is encrypted again (small loss :rolleyes: ) but TCM/Cartoon Network and Discovery Animal Planet are still clear

    Oh and now the NTL text channel is FTA too (well it was rather pointless encrypting it :D )

    Now Sky cinema 2 are in the clear
    Oh and Channel 5 are coming up on two frequencies (one VHF and one UHF)

    So basically without paying a penny* anyone with an NTL connection gets
    BBC1/2 UTV and c4
    Channel 5 (twice)
    TCM (cartoon network during the day)
    Discovery Animal Planet
    Sky Movies 2/Cinema 2 (as the mood takes them)
    NTL's WONDERFUL text channel
    Lots of radio stuff

    * Oh and its perfectly legal as long as your house has an NTL connection (either because you are/were a broadband subscriber or because someone in the house used to subscribe to their TV service)
