Question about matriculation requirements

I'm doing the leaving cert this year and I'm after having something of a disaster in Irish and there's a chance I may have failed. I was looking at the general matriculation requirements for DCU today and I noticed something that's worrying me: "Grade C3 in two Higher Level subjects and Grade D3 in four Ordinary or Higher Level subjects". The two higher C3s are fine but I was wondering if they accept LCVP as an ordinary subject, they definitely count it for points so they probably do. If anyone could confirm this I'll be able to sleep a lot better! Thanks.

did you only do 6 subjects and lcvp?

Yes, there was a shortage of places available when I applied to my school. The subject I missed out on was German. I was always crap at it anyway. I probably have passed Irish but it would be a lot easier to relax if I knew it didn't matter.

As far as I'm aware, though this is by no means concrete, LCVP *can* replace a subject for matriculation purposes.

However, I can't find anything to back this up - stop worrying about it for now though, research it after your final exam.

I didnt do LCVP but others in my year did. They told me it could count as a subject worth 60 points if you did perfectly in it if I remember right.

^^^ Touché. Heard nothing but bad things about LCVP though. Dont know if anyone here actually did it. Is it as muck as people make it out to be?

You need to pass Maths and then either English or Irish

Then any combination of 2 higher C3s and 4 D3s in higher or ordinary papers

LCVP will only be used for points, not entry requirements

In that case it's going to be a real nerve wracking summer! I'll go mad if I don't get in over Irish. I want to do computer applications, it was 300pts last year. I'm probably going to break 350 and there's still a good chance I won't get in over one pointless subject that has absolutely nothing to do with my course!
