    Hi folks,

Here's an obscure question. Many of you will have spent time in a plane doing circuits of a Heathrow airport holding area. So did I during last week, in an area described by the captain as about 20 miles NW of the airport.

Looking around the area, I spotted something on the ground. that I had seen once before in similar circumstances. It appears to be a small airport or airfield. One of its runways appears to be mostly filled with parked road vehicles, probably standard cars. Does anybody know what this place is and how it comes to be storing all these cars?

I've seen Ford, Vauxhall, Rover and Nissan park new cars at airfields. Many of the airfields are ex-military and have lots of spare capacity, so provides good source of additional revenue for the airfield and cheap secure parking for the car company.

Rover do have such a facility. It was pictured recently in the papers.
