creative Zen 5gig in N.Y

hi all,

i know i posted a topic re: a ipod , but i'm going to get a 5gig zen instead .

again i just would like to know where are the places to find such a thing , and where is cheapest .

bear in mind i don't want to know that a ipod is better than a zen or blah blah just info i where one can be got ...

plenty of electronics shops in and around time square when i was there.

check the price of what you want to buy on american sites, newegg, bestbuy and so on.
see what them shops have on offer.

i got my mp3 player there in 2000 and he bargained himself down by a fair bit because i kept trying to leave the shop

remember to keep the receipts and reclaim the taxes, if you still can....

when i was there,
on the way back through the airport there was an office you queued up at.

maybe check taxback.com aswell.

it was an electronics store around time square,
theres loads of them,
cant rememeber the name, but they all llook like pound shops.

Never used this place but there is a guy does a travel slot on The Right Hook & he recommended this as a place to shop in NY.

I can second B&H, even if you buy nothing it's a shopping experience.

I think my brother got a DIGI cam delivered from B+H, might have been them? It was a great deal but he got stung for a hell of a lot of import duties which didn't make it so sweet, but still, cheaper than he would have got it here.

Cheapest is still to buy it on ebay or another US online store and have it delivered to your hotel, order before you go so it is there when you arrive.

bloody hell :eek: , seems there charging $379 for a Zen !

i think they have there prices mixed up , but will pay them a visit .
Although after doing some searching of shops , 200 dollars is the mainstay , give or take 10 dollars or so .

all i need to do now is choose the color ? i was thinking red, blue or black ...

I bought a tonne of gear here, great service.. The staff r class. Bought n Ipod mini/canon 300D kit/electric shaver n a few other bits. Saved a small fortune... Twas heaven for me, the GF hated it ;-)

there is a deadly jewish store that is deadly not dodgey at all ill try to find the name but it was on a corner near madison square garden if you ask around there people will know. Some serious bargins on Times Sq though, i got a guy down to $200 from almost $1000 on a video camera pitty it wasnt PAL he kept saying it was but i can read.

woah please try and remember the name before this saturday, thats the day im off

still im sure i can ask around no bother ... wud'nt mind gettin a $100 off a zen lol , would be great haha

My advice is to buy nothing on times square, allot more expensive than the large retail outlets... Shops seem to survice on niave tourists. Shop around before u buy.. I was in that shop tripper is on about, J&R where a bit more expensive but by God was the service a hell of allot better...

That price includes a pair of Shure ec3 headphones which retail for about 150 dollars.
If you scroll down you'll see the zen on it's own fro 199.
The 20gb player is much better value IMO though @ 229

just be careful though, when you get it from America you only get a 3 month warrantee. Mine broke after 3 months and 3 weeks, and it cost me almost the same price as i paid for it to get it fixed.

Thats one reason to go for the Ipod mini, it comes with a worldwide guarantee. So even if it breaks when u get home u can just return it to apple irl with the reciept n get it repaired... U'd have to post the Zen micro back to the states etc.. Thats why i went for the Ipod myself.

Yes i finally remembered the name b and h there site is www.bhphotovideo.com but they dont discount things there but you get the best service and advice in NYC

Good advice guys , but im stuck fast on a Zen ...

I'm just looking into getting an extended warrenty - i think it only costs around 20 dollars extra ..

Head up to woodbury common the huge factory outlet about an hour north of NYC

Theres a sony store there with things that are ridiculously cheap, like 1/4 the price of here iirc.
When you're done looking in there you can get some clothes :0

just reporting back to say i bought a zen micro( a red one) in J&R in park row , if anyone is headed for N.Y.C just have a look in there - its an experience in itself- the place is huge !!!!!
