Hi, I am heading to South America in August, Peru, BOLIVIA, Brazil .... we were planning on doing Salt flats and Lake Titicaca in Bolivia ... News reports say Bolivia on the brink of civil war ... typical  If needs be I suppose we can skip, factor in somewhere else for those few days. Any thoughts? Any experiences of being caught in the middle of political unrest on your holiday ? ...

If there is still unrest going on there in August you most likely won't get into the country. I was there in March when it was starting to kick off and couldn't move in the country because all roads were blocked so there was no transport going anywhere. My advice is if all is not well there in August don't go near the place, consider Argentina instead. If it's all sorted by August then by all means make sure you go, it's one of the nicest countries in South America.

My trip to Bolivia is on the verge of being cancelled, along with the rest of my planned journey. Gutted but 'lets look at the bigger picture people' I hope they sort it out.
