I want to get to go to Samaria gorge, spend the night in Agia Roumeli and walk out to the waterfront bar/restaurant…

I was in Crete last summer, and did the Samaria Gorge hike - the highlight of my holiday. I'm going again this month, and am going to do the walk again, but I don't want to do it through a tour operator.

I want to get to go to Samaria gorge, spend the night in Agia Roumeli and walk out to the waterfront bar/restaurant about 3/4 kilometers down the coast. Then head back to Agia Roumeli and travel back to where the buses are waiting.

I assume there are some people who have done the Gorge walk reading this, but has anybody done what I am thinking of doing.

Its been a lot of trouble to get in contact with the Canadian guy who was my hike-guide last year. He was a fountain of knowledge and I would like to get his input.

However, any advice anybody can offer would be great.
