They're 699 now and have a dead impressive spec apart from the celery processor.
    Its an
    Intel® Celeron® M Processor 360 (1.40 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 400MHz FSB)

which in theory should be quite a bit faster than a P3 @same speed and much bettery on power.
Im looking at this for a mate who is computer illeterate and only wants something to run office, go online, play some music and burn the odd cd. We have wireless in the house so no point not getting it really.
I've been looking for something much cheaper around the e300 mark but id not feel right getting one ar that price for him when it might go kaput 2 months down the line and hes left with nothing.
This'd be at the very top of his budget but @ 639 incl relative 10% discount this has to be the best available hasnt it? Anyone got one? Any comments?
Mighty impressive spec apart from the processor:
    256ram,
    40gig 5400 hdd
    b and g wirelss
    8x dvd burner
    15" xga lcd
    good battery

i ordered an inspirion 2200 off the outlet shop for €420 incl. delivery.it does'nt have integrated wi-fi and only has cd-rw/dvd combo.but i have a plug-in pcmcia wi-fi card which will work fine with my linksys wireless router.battery is not as good as latitude models which use li-ion batteries, but should do me fine i think.specs are below of model i got.you should keep an eye on the outlet shop http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=ie&l=en&s=dfo&~ck=bt
as they selling a latitude d505 for about €610 incl. delivery and 1 years warranty which is a good price i think ,my cc will not can't stretch that far though.
