Firefox and JRE Installation

    Hi,

    Am trying to intall JRE on my machine. Running Ubuntu Hoary with Firefox. Going thru the manual installation of JRE, following the instructions to the letter. Not getting any error messages. Enable Java is ticked on the preferences.

    Still when I go to a page that requires JRE to run an applet I get the jigsaw icon and click to to download plugin sign.

    Any ideas?
