xbox live with Netopia wireless router/netgear ethernet bridge

I know there are a lot of similar threads here but I thought it would be best to start a new one. I have the wonderful Netopia wireless router, having exchanged it for the wired version recently. We were able to use our Xbox with a long ethernet cable to go on Live! with the old wired router. My brother bought the Netgear ethernet bridge to access the router from another room. None of us are whizzes when it comes to IP protocol but I'm fast learning all the  terms. I'm stumped. Has anyone here managed to connect using the Netgear bridge? I thought I had configured the bridge using Netgear phone support but now I don't think I have. I also can't access the bridge from my PC to configure it again, as the software that came with it doesn't recognise it when connected to my PC. How do I manually configure the static IP addresses? Which is the IP and which is the Gateway address? Help!

Hey if you plugged the xbox straight into the wireless router using an ethernet cable..does that work then...try this...In the XBox's Network Settings go to PPPoe Settings and switch Configuration to "On". Enter username as "eircom" and password as "broadband1". Ignore the Service Name part. Then just go back out to main menu and hit Xbox Live, it should come straight up....it maybe a common issue with the Eircom wireless router...hope that works for you bro...it did for me..
