Tournie for first timer

    Morning.

I have been playing poker for about the last year, all online and home based cash games. Now I would like to sharpen my skills in a casino based game. Can anyone recommend a casino game that would suit a broke student? Personally I would prefer a freezeout tournament for less than 50 yoyo to begin with, but can play a top up game if need's be. 60 euro is the absolute I could afford to lose at this game, until I find a summer job. Hold'Em of course is the game.

Any suggestions? Casino based, just to get some "real world" experience against players that aren't drunk, and don't religiously go the river with 8-9 offsuit or other crazy combo's.

    Any help appreciated.

Ironman you sound in the exact same position as me.
I too have been playing online and at home cash games. I went to the Fitzwailliam for the first live tournie last thursday. Its a freeroll so its free to enter, 10euro buy ins, and a top up at the break.

I think its great experience to get into the whole tournament structure and stuff. Lots of people will probably say that the standard aint great, who cares! Just go, play and enjoy. If you do well you can win a ticket to the higher cost games during the week/month. Theres also freeroll on saturday and sunday, and they're all full of students!

Otherwise there's the wednesday nights which is a €20+€5 game.
Let us know if you go!

    Dave
