I thought it started well. Disallowed try was unlucky..... I'm in work now, so have to rely on the internet for updates :)

Lions seem to up there game towards the last 1/4 which isent going to work against NZ

again i thought the ref allowed the tara. ( :p ) side to spoil and slow down ball all day....he warned them 4-5 times and eventually 15mins into the second half decides to bin someone....These kiwi refs are shocking.

BAM BAM (tara no.5) should be cited for the late hit on Murphy.

    Thought Titeral was very poor.

As for Hayes....well i really hope that's his last game... It's embarrassing to watch him get screwed by the opposition.

I listened to 1st half on bus into town, watched 2nd in the White Horse :)

Harsh on Hayes, Peadar, but you're probably right.

Shaggy-Murphy worked excellently - I think they're both close to clinching their spots after that performance.

Hodgeson really putting it up to the other 10s after a great game. His misses were difficult and I'd expect ROG to have missed them too. Let's see what the Welshman can do in the next game. (if he starts - I really expected Wilko on in the 60-70th).

Good game overall, despite the fantastic officiating of Stevie Wonder et al. You'd swear these officials have low self-esteem or something, they keep looking for attention.

And what a huge tackle by the Tara #13 at the end - getting hit by a bus would probably be softer.

Bring on the Maoris and the first major challenge (thankfully).

These matches are always tough. These guys never want to lose to the Lions and if they can make them know they are in a match even better.
The Lions only really started to play in the last 15 minutes of the game.
    Shaggy played well.
Haven't seen as bad a pass from a scrumhalf until that one by Cusiter. Under pressure on their own line, ball comes from the scrum and a pass that nearly went over the dead ball line without anybody getting anywhere near it!
    A schoolboy would do better.

yeah that cusiter pass was hilarious.....otherwise i thought he was excellent. Hassled the oppostion NO.8 and scrumhalf all game and his passing was fantastic (other than the howler).

I thought it was odd too that Wilko didn't get on.

Thought it was funny when the Naki captain was being interviewed after the game he was complaining about the ref....      What ****ing game were you playing in mate!!!!!!????:D

Complaining about the ref? Idiot! Was he complaining about general levels of cr@pness (agreed) or that he was pro-Lions?

He was moaning about the sinbinning...He made some quip about how he thought that the ref could have shown some bias towards his fellow kiwi's!!

TBH, i would have binned a heap of their players for spoiling....and as for the high tackle on Horgan near the end......

I don't really know much about titeral but he looks too small to be hooker.

I just can't stress enough how poor Hayes was in the scrum. As soon as he goes off the scrum becomes an attacking platform. :(

What ireland would give to have a sh as good as cussiter....

I thought this was one of the funniest interviews i've watched in a long time! Was he even speaking english, the whole thing just came out as a jumble of words at high speed

Anyway i thought O'Callaghan definitely put in a good enough performance to make two Irish second rows starting in the test matches a possibility.

thought they played reasonably well, good result in the end

good performance by the irish back three in particular geordan murphy

hayes has played two games now and has been rubbish in both

cussiter has been very impressive while cooper has been a disaster

that kick by hodgson for horgan on the wing with the pass inside to geordan for the try was one of the best things ive ever seen in a rugby match

Cooper is crap :p As for the game itself I though cuister had an excellent game apart from that dreadful pass but one mistake cant take away from his brilliant performance ;) Murphy had an amazing game I hope he wins the 15 shirt :D Horgan played one of the best games of his life , only 1/2 fumbles i couldnt believe it from the player i have come to know as butter fingers :p

As for the ref he was a bloody joke. I mean bad enough the #5 late tackle on murphy but the closeline he gave cuister and got a warning for it I was like what the F**K!!!

Not a bad game as they have gone so far but Lions still have a long way to come if they are to give the all blacks a run for their money. We will see the main lions team playing this saturday against the maoris so that should be a good match :D

Ok i managed to fend off the radio the tele and anyone who tried to tell me the score to make it home without knowing the score.

Just watched the replay 2mins ago.

1st off Cusiteor and Hodgson take a bow and take a test place.Wilko looked terrible against Arg and ROG looked poor; only Jones left. Cusiteor messed up that try but his overall game was 99% excellent,Peel be worried.

John Hayes hang your head.................but wait! I'm noticing a strange trend with the Lions scrum. Its turning and wobbling on ball by hungry openside flanker like Moody. Look at the game again and every scrum that the Lions are in Corry pushes and Moody stands up looking for the ball; hence the wheel (i'll wait the response). Used to play openside yrs & yrs ago and my coach always said to me win the ball first and then worry about support.

Donnacha looked great along with Corry and Owenl ;nice support.Titterall go home!!!!!!! Greenwood failed to impress.Smith looks to partner BOD in the centre for the 1st test i reckon. Hickie was quiet except for a few runs. Horgan made a few bad decisions and plays;but did well. Murphy looked great, sweet hands some brave tackling and even better support.

TO MR REF i say to you, offside, closing the gap, hands on the jumper, diving in,hands on the deck, diving over, side going forward, late tackles, players in front of the kicker, ball not striaght in the lineout, hauling down the maul and his best in from the side. Irecall him saying "i caught you fist and 2 and 7 coming in fomr the side" which he gave one penalty for??????????????/ One player is a penalty 2 is a warning and 3-get off the pitch.Very suspect reffing. Waht i dread is he is also reffing against Wellington.

Congrads the Lions; great second half but be warned this was an average NZ Provincial Team.

    Nukem

I'm assuming alot of the results in the table depend on who plays whom at home. They only play each other once and in rugby home advatage is key

I think John Hayes is not the best of scrummagers but his all round game is top class. Great lineout lifter and in the rucks and mauls he's one of the best! I think too much is made of the scrums. There will only be a handfull of scrums in the top class games because the top class players make fewer mistakes than lesser players.

I think it's enough to hold your own in the scrum. I think that's the view of the all blacks too. Their scrummagers must be able to pass, run, support teammates etc. It's a waste to bring players like Julien White who is a great scrummager but not too clever in other departments. Same with Matt Stevens and Rowntree.

I would also like to add that Titterall is a real handicap for the props. He's just too small. If Hayes had Thompson inside him it would have made a hugh difference.

As for the match, I thought Horgan, Murphy, O'Callaghan and Hickie were outstanding (though Hickie got little ball)! Horgan looks like he could get the right wing position for the tests!

Moody, Greenwood and Titterall were poor. Johnny O'Connor is badly needed!

I actually can't agree with this at all...admitedly there are less scrums in todays rugby than there used to be....but a props most important job is to secure the scrum, so that good ball is provided for the backs. If there was a prop in ireland who could scrummage properly but was inferiour to Hayes in every other asset of his game...i'd still pick the other prop. The only reason Hayes has survived so long is that refs refuse to referee the scrum properly.

Remeber the try england scored against us in 2004 when dayglo was able to scragg stringer...that was down to a decimated scrum. It could have changed the game. One of the england tries agaisnt us in 2003 was another ****ed up scrum....(The flood gates opened soon afterwards).

Yes, I agree in certain cases (like the England match that time) you would be better off with a specialist scrummager but in most matches Ireland usually survive.
