I notice there are a lot of threads looking for singers, but none particularly interest me. Im looking for musicians who firstly are into the type of music i play and write, are committed enough to practice at least two sessions a week and who can play a multitude of styles. Mainly after guitarists, a drummer...i know a bass player so i can always get him on board. backing vocal ability is important. in terms of influence on my singing...it would include Teenage Fanclub (everyone bar Blake), Neil Young, Chris Bell (when he wasnt shaky and depressed), Tom Petty (without the harshness), Arthur Lee, The Kinks, Tim Buckley, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, Moby Grape, Mazarin, Jacob Golden, Nick Drake, The Eagles, Gram Parsons, Gene Clark, Joe Pernice, Beachwood Sparks. So note, that doesn't mean Im going to write exactly like a hybrid of a couple of the above but it indicates that im not going to be a punk singer or a raw guttural growling mainac. In January Im starting to record an album and if I dont have a band by then i will use session musicians. But obviously getting a bunch of like minded guys or girls together would be preferable.
