    Heh lads,

I have decided to go to turkey (Kusadasi) for 2 weeks on 22nd July, Im just looking for a bit of background from anyone who has been there. Is it cheap to go out? Is it lively? Where to go/not to go?

I was looking at flights they seem quite expensive all year around. Im just wondering if any of you know any cheap flights that go to turkey this time of the year if so will you post links or airlines please.

www.buyaflight.co.uk <<< cheapeast I could find but seems you have to phone to book

    Any recommendations?

    Brendan.

I was there a few years back. It was a great place for beer and song. It was really cheap at the time but I believe it has become a bit more expensive over the last few years (although still a damn site cheaper than here). Bar Street is the place to go. Its a long street full of bars and clubs. Expect them to be tacky but also expect slightly dressed drunk girls dancing on bars and table tops. The local brew , Effes, is nice beer. Imported beers are also available but are more expensive.

There are a couple of really nice beaches a short bus ride away. We rented mopeds for our stay which I would fully recommend. Really handy for getting around but be carefull. Turkish drivers out on the main roads can be suicidal.

Id also recommend the local waterpark. It had just opened when we were there. Great slides and a good chance to get away from the sun loungers.

Id also recommend a trip to Efesus (ancient Roman city). You can get an organised tour but its only about 20 minutes away on the mopeds. ;)

The only thing about Kusadasi is that Bar Street is really the only place to go. ( there are other bars dotted around but they tend to be small and quiet ) So the whole place begins to feel like ground hog day by the second week.

Also a surley police man poked me in the ribs with his machine gun  , and myself and my mate were followed back to our hotel by about 12 dodgey looking locals one night, we had no idea why?, we were just glad that security didn't let them in.

I've had better holidays... hope you have a better experience

Yeah I was there about 3 years ago and after the first few days it was like being in the gaelteacht... same faces everywhere we went and stuck there for 2 weeks... Also if your a girl watch out for the local men SLEAZY  and quite agressive at times, dont go out on your own at night... also a lot of pickpockets... usually in the form of small girls trying to give you a rose or some sort of flower while her little friend goes through your pockets... and bar street is really the only place to go at night, there are 2 main ones that the irish tend to stick to Paddys bar and I cant remember the other one but no doubt you'll find it... Very hot as well, went up to 50 degrees when I was there and my friend ended up in hospital..
I would recommend the mid night cruis and the booze cruis, very good value for money...
Foods not great either, id advise you bring some food with you.. You'll see a lot of places advertising "authentic irish food" but dont fall for it, its the same ****e as you get everywhere else over there

    Agreed.
Paddy's and Jimmy's were the two main Irish bars I found. Alot of fit Russian girls on holiday too which was kinda odd. Anyway yeah, watch out for them kids selling wrist bands.....they'll actually grab your arm to try and put one on. Like Real said the local waterpark is deffo worth checking out.
Local told me he's seen a three fold increase in prices and that was only last year....tis getting expensive. Bring your factor 150 too....gets crazy hot midday. Good holiday but I won't be back there in too much of a hurry either.

What hotel you staying in Iri$hKeLt?

We stayed in the Oya Apartments. Was really nice. Clean good value and mostly Irish people staying there. The guys running the place we a good bunch of guys and were happy to keep the bar open all night if you wanted. We booked it through Sunworld about 3 or 4 years back.
