If a job application requires a CV and Covering Letter to be emailed, should the covering letter be

    (a) The text of the mail itself
    (b) An attachment
    (c) Both

I am inclined to think that the letter should be an attachment, with the text of the mail being a quick paragraph detailing the position applied for, my name and that the CV and letter are attached.

    Anyone?

If it were me I'd make it an attachment and just state that the covering letter is included as an attachment in the e-mail :)

Yeah, I'd have two attachments, Cover Letter and CV separate, and just state what you're applying for in the mail, and "please find cover letter and CV attached."
