Looking for a special drive case

    I'm looking for a strange type of 3.5" hard drive case

    I have a DVD PVR recorder, the hard drive is a standard IDE type with the cradle etc, the one where you put the cradle in your PC and there is another one in the DVd PVR recorder, you pop a 3.5 " drive into an enclosure, this enclosure then slides into the cradle in the PC or in the DVD PVR recorder
    The thing is that its a little messy when moving stuff arround, I orderd a cradle from Peats months ago now and still no sign. So at the moment I'm transferring the hard drive from this enclosure into a USB 2 enclosure to get the info off it.
    What I am looking for is some gizmo or enclosue that will fit a standatd IDE removeable hard drive cradle and also has an option to plug in USB 2 and power source. I have seen units that convert an IDE circuit to USB2 but I need one that will fit the connection on the back of the IDE removeable case, as I do not want to keep transferring the drive from one case to another, this will eventually damage the drive beyond repair. Plus this device would make the portable drive mucch more portable , as nobody seems to have these old cradles on their PC any more, they look kack anyway. CPC do a black one for 12 euro but it has not USB facility.

    What you need is an external 5.25 drive box and put a second 3.5 cradle in that.

    thanks for the reply,

    I know how and what i need to get the cradle situation working, I would just like the option to hook an external PSU and a USB2 connection to this box so I could move it arround easier

    Thats all the external drive box is. A PSU and a USB/FW to IDE/SATA bridge.

    Do a search on "hot swap USB2 enclosure 5.25" The're very common.

    That looks more like it alright, just a bit steep at 85 dollars, so i guess what I'm looking for is a USB2 case to house an external IDE hard drive.

    I'll hunt some more, thanks
