Do public patients pay?

    As a public patient do you have to pay for hospital visits/checkups? Just wondering cos I had to go for a few tests last year and I never got a bill in the post.

    yeah you have to pay, thats why you register when you go in, give them your details etc. i had to go a couple of weeks ago cost me E55, i think thats the standard fee in hospitals these days

    I went over year ago, seen a specialist, had x-rays taken, never paid a penny! lol

    fair play azezil, you probally didnt register or something, but give a **** they make plenty of money anyway well done!!!

    You'll have to pay unless you have a medical card, which is unlikely unless you're unemployed/single parent/otherwise financially crippled.
    If you're talking about going into casualty, they will charge you €55 unless you've been referred there by a GP, in which case you give them the GP's letter and its free, besides what you already paid to the gp.

    I thought you only got charged for A&E visits and overnight stays. That's all I ever got charged for.
