LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Michelle Rodriguez may get to have that drink with Matthew Fox after all.
After a brief appearance on "Lost" in part one of the show's season finale in May, Rodriguez will join the cast full-time next season, ABC says. She'll be playing a character named Ana-Lucia Cortez.

Rumors that the "Girlfight" star would join the cast have been swirling for some time now, and her addition presents some tantalizing possibilities for the show's second season.

From her cameo in a flashback sequence with Fox's Jack Shepard in part one of the season finale, we know that Ana-Lucia had a seat near the back of the plane on Oceanic Flight 815. From the show's pilot, we know that the tail section broke off before the plane crashed on the mysterious island that Jack and 40-some other survivors now call home.
The casting of Rodriguez adds credence to the idea that other passengers may have ended up on the island as well. Shortly before his death, Boone (Ian Somerhalder) made radio contact with someone who appeared to say "We're the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815."

Rodriguez first earned notice for her starring role in 2000's "Girlfight," for which she won an Independent Spirit Award and several critics' honors. She's also appeared in "The Fast and the Furious," "Blue Crush" and "S.W.A.T." "Lost" will be her first TV series.

    From Yahoo...

When last we left the show, which was one of the season's biggest rookie hits, averaging nearly 16 million viewers, Jack, Locke, Kate and Hurley had blasted opened the mysterious hatch and found...a long, dark passageway. Meanwhile, Michael, Walt, Jin and Sawyer's boat ride was interrupted by the less than neighborly "Others," a group of men who intercepted the raft, kidnapped the seemingly clairvoyant Walt, shot Sawyer and blew up the vessel. Michael was left treading water among the wreckage as Jin dove in to try to save Sawyer.

In an interview on Los Angeles' KROQ radio last week, Abrams said the raft crew will eventually make it back to the island, but come ashore away from the rest of their pals, possibly setting up the discovery of Rodriguez's character and perhaps other survivors. Abrams also suggested that one of the stars is unhappy with his current contract and will likely be killed off at the beginning of the second season and won't be featured in any further episodes, even in flashbacks. The producer didn't drop any hints, but, per message board speculation, the leading candidate appears to be Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid.

The rest is basically what the Zap2it.com article says.

But Sayid? That sucks! He is one of the better characters!

Looks like the rumours of the cast member leaving are BS.
The stories regarding a cast member leaving because of a contract dispute are false. These spoilers arose from a reported interview on KROQ radio in LA. Lost's publicist has denied JJ made these statements. It's not clear if JJ did the interview and it was misreported, but regardless, the statements about a cast member being killed off because of a salary issue appear to be false.
