    How do you force the phone to save stuff to the memory card rather than the phone memory which is full?

    in each relevant application you alter the storage settings...

    e.g.
    Messages
    Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Other > Memory in Use

    Camera
    Camera > Options > Settings > Image / Video > Memory in Use
