BIOS error on restart

Sometimes (not all the time), I get a message when booting up my PC saying that I need to reset the CPU frequency and it complains that it's been changed. I haven't messed around with the CPU frequency in the BIOS and I've been getting these messages on and off over the past year.

They are infrequent usually months apart, although it happened 3 times last month.

The problem is solved if I go into the BIOS and reset it to the saved defaults (although when I check the BIOS the settings are already at the defaults and there should be no reason to have to reset them).

It's been suggested to me that it might be a dodgy CMOS battery. Should I be looking to replace the motherboard or is there some way for me to rectify this?

The Battery is easy to change usually.

It is about the size of a 20c coin but sometimes can be hard to find.

Do not remove it until you have the new one ready.

But I was drooling over new motherboards...

    So shiny...

Plus finding the right battery might be hassle. (Forgot they could be changed :o )
