    Hi,
Just a quick question to which i am getting mixed responses. I am bringing in a US car (71 BB Corvette) and she is comming in through the UK, My question is as follows :
If I pay the duty and VAT in the UK, Will I have to pay the difference (Between 17.5% and 21%) in Ireland!

The last time I brought one in (Last year) I was told that I would from the Revenue So i payed it all here (brought through the UK on a T1 form) But that costs mony to organise (shippers dont like to do it and you need a clearing agent to also do it here).

Any help greatly appreciated as the car is due in 27th of June!

    Thanks

    Hi Tom,
All you are required to do if bringing a car in from outside of the EU is pay Duty and Vat on the point of first entry in a European State. Once its paid there you shouldn't have to pay any more Vat or Duty, you'll have to pay 50 Euro VRT though. I have imported five Cars/ Truck in from the states and have paid all the Vat and Duty in England and never had to pay anymore here. Your right about the T1 its very hard to organise and the shipper will try talk you out of it but I and others from our club never had any trouble clearing them in England just get all the documentation.
    cheers
