By Car Ferry To Spain - Anyone Tried It?

I wondered if anyone had tried the car ferries from England to Spain. Britanny Ferries go from Plymouth to Santander and P&O go from Portsmouth to Bilbao. Both websites are coy about the actual timetable - i.e. exactly how long the journey takes!! The P&O one seems to take much longer but its difficult to tell from their annoying website. The Britanny Ferry voyage uses the same ship as travels from Cork to Roscoff about which I had heard good things. Both ferry routes seem expensive as far as I can see.
My concern is that I understand that both of these routes cross the Bay of Biscay and this can be rough. I was thinking of travelling in July or August. I am not a particularly good sailor or rather sea passenger.
    Has anyone tried these routes?

Cruising on the Pont-Aven is like taking a holiday in itself, and it has dramatically improved sailing times to Spain and France. Crossing time to Santander has now been cut to only 18 hours, and sailing times between Plymouth, Roscoff and Cork have also been reduced.

12 hours from Cork to Roscoff - it's 18 hours from Rosslare to Cherbourg with Irish Ferries and based on our last trip with IF, I'd be booking Brittany Ferries. The Normandy should be totally refurbed because it is as dingy as hell!!!
