A8N-SLI Deluxe - Sata Drive / Raid(red) ports / turn off raid ?

    Right. I have an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe board.

    I've got 4 SATA HDDs plugged into the black sata ports on the board. These are all working fine with no problems whatsoever.

    The board also has red sata ports. I believe these are the raid ones. A hard drive connected to one of these don't work.

    I've been told to ensure that the raid controller is active in my bios, which I have done. (I've also tried with it off). The Ctrl+s or F4 section after the "press del to enter setup" prompt *seems* to detect the drive but gives me the following error "No valide deivce! Press any key to continue... or Press Ctrl+S or F4 to enter RAID utility"

    The anykey don't work, the PC just locks up. F4 works, but there's no options to actually just use it as a normal drive in there.

    THis drive works fine on the other controller.

    I'm out of ideas.

    Any suggestions ?

    +++ update +++
    I've tried every bios from the one that came with it right up to the latest beta.

    The drive is a samsung spinpoint ( http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=307912&view=detailed )
