when i got my laptop at christmas everything was dandy apart from after using it it took about 10-15 mins to turn on again(powered up but then goes off with screen remaining blank).i assumed this was some sort of safety feature or something.as time has passed the length i have to wait has increased to a good few hours now and i am wondering wtf is up?
anyway is there a way to fix this problem myself or do i have to bring it back to acer?.

bit of another problem.put the wrong file in the recycle bin and now when i start the computer up it says NTLDR missing.i assume i deleted a windows file by accident and have to reinstall it?
i dont really mind that but is there any way of doing that without loosing the 60gb of stuff i need on the hard drive?
(plus cant find the windows cd lol ).

Something very wrong here a new laptop should never take 10-15 mins to boot up. Contact Acer support, could be faulty hard drive or something. You could also try boot off the recovery/XP cd and do a repair of ur windows installation but if ur not sure what ur doin prob best phone acer or wherever u bought the laptop for support.

YA try the recovery disc first. Dunno if you can even boot to Safe mode:o If ya can try a restore point to before the deletion and pray that works. Thats a feckin annoying problem.

Next time may offer ya a bit of advice. Been in your situation and i know it hurts don't it. Partition your drive so that you can put your important files sepearate to the OS,then if it goes bang you just need to reinstall th OS. I know a little late to be tellin you but next time you willl know.Sorry for your loss :o

i am getting it repaired under warranty^^ and with the amount of stuff messed up with it now it would have cost quite the pretty penny( the boot problem is probably a faulty switch or something?but even that makes no sence...).The reason i didn't bring it back when ye said was that i needed it for projects and eh games and digital photos etc...
what i did to lose everything was use the recovery disks because i need it working as soon as possible no matter the cost :(
not knowing that enough about what i am doing and none of my friends that do,
are from sligo,i had to lose everything.

Only soft partitioned so i take it. When installing an OS it will ask you about partitions and you can make new ones. Did you use the admin tools to partition the drive by any chance. Doesnt work. Can use PArtition magic as well for it.
