I know you can buy the physical hardware in argos and places, at the moment my PC only has a DVD player.
How do I physically install the burner and then get the software like Neuro 5 and stuff?
    Help!

Put the drive in your machine, pick a slot on the IDE ribbon to attach it to (its the same one that connected to your hard disks), set the drivers accordingly (master if its going to be on the top slot, slave if below), connect the power cable (the thinner red/black one), and presto.

Firstly, It's called Nero, and it's on version 6 now. You can get it from places like www.marxcomputers.ie.

Then you buy the drive from www.komplett.ie, open your PC case, and screw it into an empty drive bay. Connect the wires, and boot up the PC.

I would strongly suggest based on your level of expertise that you ask someone else to install it for you, better yet if they let you watch them do it so you can learn.

Do any of your friends know computers? Otherwise, PC World or Marx Computers should install it for you, as will any 'Computer Repair' store.

I'd just be a bit weary giving it to some of my computer friends to do, how much would cost approximately to install professionaly?

I think Pc World charge about the €35-44 mark for installing the drive and the software but you'd need to buy it from them too. Depending how busy they are you might be able to watch

It's the easiest thing in the world to do. Just be brave. The writer will need to be master, regardless of which position it is physically. This is done by setting the jumpers on the back of the 2 drives. Might sound intimidating but its not if you have a look. If you are too worried you could just replace the DVD-ROM with the DVD-Writer.

I say give it a go yourself. We'll be here to help if you get stuck :)

I'll fit the drive if you want , where are you based in Dublin?

Its probably the easiest component to install, without risk of breaking it. A pic of your case would do nicely for a step through guide. And don't buy nero, theres plenty of freeware burning software.
