I used a Standalone DVD+Recorder to burn something onto a DVD+RW then I used my PC to copy the disc using CDBurner XP Pro 3. None of the burned DVD+R's worked in DVD players that recognise DVD+RW format. What have I done wrong?

ok a few step by step checks needed here

Firstly the disc made on the stand alone recorder must be finalised (every recorder is different on how to do this operation)before it can be played in a player other than the recorder

Once finalised you should be able to copy it ...

Then you should use decent software like Nero for the Jb

Also consider what types of DVD -r or +R that the DVD player can handle

COntrary to Dells marketing DVD -r has a higher compatiblity rate

IF that fails rip the original with DVD shrink or Decrpyter and reburn using the DVD VIDEO disc option in NEro , you manually put the files from the VIDEO TS folder from the hard drive rip into the VIDEO TS folder nero creates and then NERO does the rest to make the disc , PLAYER friendly

Sorry, i was away for a couple of days. Its not my PC obviously. The discs are "Samsung Pleomax DVD+R 8X 4.7Gb". The DVD Burner on the other PC is a NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD. The standalone player can play DivX's that were burnt on these DVD's Disc's and im fairly sure that its -/+ compatible.

The disc made using the recorder probably wasnt finalized but I copied it and finalized those discs and they are the ones that dont work properly.

+R(W) discs do not have to be finalised, only -R(W) discs do. Thats why the +R format is better than -R in standalone players.
