Is it possible to specify which location on the sim card you want a number to be located. I need to program a number into location 1 on the sim. I am told O2 cards are preprogrammed with 171 at location 1 and this cant be changed. It is for use in an alarm system and will therefore only make 1/2 calls per year. O2 credit doesnt expire so it would be my first choice.

Yes it is possible. The prodecure varies depending on the phone. I know for sure that it can be done with Motorola and Panasonic phones.

O2 don't program VM to key 1. This is usually a feature of the handset - i.e. hold 1 to dial voicemail.
