Am working in 1st Level technical support for about the last 2 years and am looking into what courses are the best in terms of improving career prospects am thinking maybe of doing a CCNA course, as have heard networks where there will soon be a skills shortage.

Anyone any views in terms of courses and improving career prospects

CCNA is always a good one to get - it's pretty easy to get it too, though you might want to be working with networks/cisco routers on a daily basis to improve your chances, otherwise there's alot of learning involved.

the comptia courses are easy and are recognised as good all round generic courses.
a combination of two of the A+., network+ and server+ also constitutes a quarter of the mcse these days as well i think.

but they are pretty easy, and a good way to show you are willing to do some work to progress.

but dont get hung up on getting certified, unless its really relevant or neccessary to what you want to do and achieve. most important is the ability to do a job, to be able to adapt and to get experience.
