Check that the 50 vs 60 hz is not an issue also and if it will cause groun loops , might be better getting a Fender dealer fit the proper psu if you are only going to use it here

otherwise try Everest in Bray ( explain what you are trying to do ) and then thomann in Germany

The Hot Rod Deluxe rules and Chris is selling it a great price.

I've been monitoring several Hot Rod Deluxe amps on ebay.de and they're going for a lot more than that. If you find a transformer go for it, and go for it quickly before it's snapped up, coz that's a real bargain!

(jcoote, did i tell you that i want that one in my collection too? Together with the bluesbreaker etc etc :p )

I say go for it anyway and worry about the transformer later. It's a great deal. Go for it.

Crazy. Old Marshall amps all had tapped primaries on the power transformers, so you could use any standard voltage, US or EU. It's strange to see the decline of functionality in favour of market control. :( Or maybe Fender and Mesa were always like that.

Chris hasn't replied to my email yet... Anyway i think its still a great deal so I'll go for it i think. The same amp is like €800 in Ireland and under €300 on that site.

Do Maplin in Ireland carry that power transformer or did you get it from the maplin website in England? Would the current rating on it be ok to power the amp?

I did indeed get it in Ireland. Galway to be exact.

You should be perfectly ok running any amp from it, methinks.

If you don't get a reply from Chris after a day send the mail again and make the subject very clear that you want to spend $$$

Yes... I think I made it quite clear... Does anyone know if he accepts dollar bank drafts, if there is such a thing? I really want this amp ASAP... I suppose I could pay by credit card if I asked my parents nicely.

They do and he does. Make sure you post it by registered mail :)

Sold my Jazz! only like 500 away from having paid off the parents, aw yeah! :D

  • Just to let anyone know, who might be interested. (Freak) if you don't have a credit card you can still buy things online that require a credit card, without one. Go to https://www.3v.ie/index.cfm and read up about thier new product. Basically it's a bank draft that you buy in a shop, but you get a Credit card number and an expiry date instead of a cheque. This will allow you to purchase things that require a credit card.

I'm gonna get one in the next few days, so if anyone's worried about it i'll report back.

That actually sounds class. All the functions of a credit card without the temptations of having credit.

(Of course, they neglect to mention how useful it would be for anonymously subscribing to porn sites. Which is what everyone is really thinking. Hehe.)

Seriously though, let us know how it goes with it.

Hmm, not so anonymous now that I read about it. I'm not liking the €4/€5 surcharge, the €2.50 "redemption" charge coupled with the €10-increments-only, or the €200 maximum.
