I am looking to try progressing to a few golf courses in the coming months. I know the red tee boxes are for the ladies, but what is the story with the other colours - white, green, blue (maybe there are more colours - I don't know). Thanks.

Usually courses have 4 colours, usually

White - Competition tees. These are for big comps and wha tthe course par is
Yellow - Members tees, usualy a stroke less and what members play off
Green/Blue - Visitor tees, these are for visitors and are also a stroke less
Red - Ladies
