Intel shift pattern

tried googling this, searching boards and intel sites.

How does this compressed working week actually work out?

is it 4 on/3 off, 3 on/4 off... meaning you are working....

mon, tue, wed, thur,
mon, tue, wed....

confused!!

I dunno about intel but in my old job where we had 12 hour shift work, you worked 4 days and had 3 off.

that is crazy ****...

for practically half a year you have no weekend to speak of and then for the other half you are alright...

I always thought that the turnaround in weekend off/ weekend on was faster, in fairness my other half would go mental at the prospect of this and who could blame her... no wonder there's a reasonable shift allowance.

Yep it's crap. The time off suits some people, and I think the people who settle into it have their social lives revolve (to some extent) around their work colleages on shift.

Horses for courses really... just remember what ever base salary you're on you'll get ~50% on top of that due to the shift.

Also if you're looking at a job I wouldn't assume it'll be there for long. IMO they seem to reducing the number of new people they are taking on.

Friends of mine work in Intel. It suits some of them and really doesn't suit others. One of my friends misses his Saturday nights so much he thought about quitting.

Lots of time off though to do plenty of things. The money isn't great in fairness though.

The shift pattern has to be one of the best out there - you work 3 on, 4 off, 4 on, three off. You switch from nigths to days every four weeks.

So, you work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every second Wednesday for the first half of the year. Then in June, you switch over and work Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every second Wednesday.

The beauty of it is that you always know you are off Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays for the first half of the year and Sundays/Mondays/Tuesdays on the second half of the year. So you can plan things for those days unlike other shifts where your days off are not fixed.

Yeah, nurses have it a lot more disruptive from what I've seen.

Night shift work is nice if you're naturally a night owl, there usually is a nice bonus for it
