    Hey all! :D
I've just been thinking a lot about football lately because it's been on quite often recently. Anyway,I can't stand it and can't understand people who,as a hobby,"appreciate" it. However, the people who are into it become addicts, they get totally hooked, like their life depends on their team winning a match.
Football addicts have two main states of being. One is watching football and the other is waiting to watch football.
However, that's all a mere side note to my actual theory. My theory is this: What if football is a soap opera? What if the games are scripted and the players are talented actors? What if it's all conspiracy?

But imagine they came out and said it was and footballers took on these personalities ,like in wrestling! And they'd play in mad costumes and stuff!

Now that game was scripted 'Roy of the Rovers' type stuff... If LadyJ's theory were ever to be true, this game had to be a dead give away :D

You see the trouble here is that you're watching it on TV...go out and watch a game, even if you hate it. I'm not the world's biggest soccer fan but the atmosphere at a match and actually seeing players up close will dispell any of your crackpot theories...

The same theory could be applied to anything, We could all just be in our own Trueman show without realiseing. Anyone here could be an actor for the others.

The bit where you compared football to soap operas using the words 'talented actors' lost me.

Only some are real fans ya know! The rest are just paid actors sent to be crazy enthusiastic so normal people think football is more exciting than it actually is!

ah i see...was wondering what the hell was going on!
some of the things they do have to be staged......there was a woman who(i dont know how she managed it) kept her arm moving up and down making a gesture i still don't understand at the other fans for the whole 100 or so minutes she was there.but ofc there were people doing it back to her....yes i got so bored i watched the crowd!

Some football matches have to be crap and uneventful so people don't cop on to the conspiracy.

oh no it was apparently a "great" match but i detest football apart from playin with a few mates.

    me so jealous

    Worst theory ever.

I completely agree with the above statement. I don't where to start pointing out how you are definitely wrong, so i wont even bother. I love football but I can see how people wouldn't enjoy it. I think you really have to get into it and understand it before you can appreciate the beautiful game.

Just to clarify, this is a joke theory. Enough talk of how glorious football is! That wasn't the point.
