Breasts expanding against my will - Help!!

Three weeks ago I went on the Pill (Dianette), partially as birth control and partially for my skin. Already my breasts have got bigger, to the extent that my bras are uncomfortable and some of my tops are too tight. I was a modest B cup before, but I was HAPPY with that, they suited me because I have a small frame. I think I must be at least a C now. I'd heard that the Pill can make you put on weight, but this is ridiculous, I haven't put it on anywhere except my chest! I'm a student, I can't afford to go and buy a new wardrobe, I want to fit back into my bras and tight tops again. To anyone who's ever been on the Pill - is this just temporary? Will they keep expanding? Would I be better off not taking the Pill anymore? I need advice on this from someone who knows his kind of thing!

(On the plus side, my skin is radiant)

It’s probably a combination of the moon and the pill! (Try to cut out salt from your diet and see if that helps)

I notice that I will swell up during the moon cycles! I know it sounds odd but I’ve been told by a lot of woman that it happens to them too! (Reason for extra b!tchiness if you have you period around the same time)

Plus the first place you put weight on is usually your breasts

perfectly normal, the pill contains estrogen, the female growth hormone, which makes your boobs grow and sometimes causes weight gain.

You can go back to your doctor and she/he can presecribe a new pill. Different pills have different levels of estrogen so you could lower the dosage of the hormone with a different pill.

Not sure how soon it takes for your boobs to 'go down' as it were, but don't worry, they're not likely to keep growing to Jordan-proportions!

    OP
might I suggest you go to your doctor for advice on this, everyone is different in their reaction to the pill, therefore whatever anyone says in here doesn't automatically make it the right thing for you

The pill doesn't necessarily cause you to visibly put on weight, but what it does do is increase your appetite, which in turn can lead to weight gain. Also, many people find that while they don't appear to have gained weight, they do become heavier, due to fluid retention. (Basically, it's not always visible, it may just be internal weight.) This is why most doctors will weigh patients before prescribing the pill, just to make sure they haven't gained too much weight when they come back for a checkup.

Firstly, Most people whose breasts have increased in size while they've been on the pill find that they will return to their original size when they stop taking it. However, other people find that they don't, so there's no guarantee that you'll go back to your original size if you come off the pill. (I think this depends somewhat on your age, as if you're quite young you'll most likely still be growing anyway)

Secondly, no they won't keep expanding. You would be very, very lucky (or unlucky, in your case) if your breasts increased more than a cup size, and they will stop growing sooner or later. So don't panic, what you're experiencing is quite normal, and you'll stop expanding soon enough :)

If i were you I'd go see your dr-if you're a student there should be services provided by your college.

I've tried that pill myself with disastrous consequences-it's cheap, it's low on hormones in comparison to other pills generally offered by dr.s-well that's been my experience-and most of my friends who were on it had problems-ie-vomiting, weight gain, head-aches...go to your doctor-don't put your health before finances, if you'r sick you'r no use to yourself, espcly to get more finances....

Also get fitted properly for a bra, makes the world of difference, if you're too big for your bra, you'll look even bigger as you fall out, also it's not good for the ol boobs.

Edema (water-retention) and growth in breast tissue are relatively common side-effects with contraceptive pills including Diane 35, after all you're taking the stuff to reproduce two pregnancy symptoms (the inability to get pregnant and clearer skin) and those are two others. Either may or may not go away after a few cycles (if not they'll generally go away when you come off the pill), either may or may not be accompanied by mastalgia.

As always if you have any concerns about symptoms related to contraceptive pills, talk to your doctor and discuss changing your brand with him/her.

Seriously, do. Make an appointment today.

I have the same exact problem!!! I have always been thin then I go on the pill and my breasts get big, I get hips and a bit of a bottom as well. I've no problem with being a woman, but I just don't like the added "sexiness" that suddenly appears or the attention it draws. Your breasts won't keep getting bigger though, so that shouldn't be a worry. And I'm not a doctor, but Don't go on that new lower hormone pill that's out there now! It wrecks the skin!!!!

Go to the doctor, this is not a medical forum.
