Sky Digital TV Link, Remote control extender problem

    Hi,

Sorry iuf this has been asked before. I looked through the satallite threads but there are only 3 pages. Maybe they get archived....

I have Sky Digital installed a number of months. The box is in with the main TV. I have two extra cables feeding into two other TV's. Both cables have the TV Link connected to the TV. T-bar splitter at the back of the sky box for the two extra cables.

The Sky remote control always worked on TV1. TV2 would only work if I unplugged the T-Bar and only had TV2 connected.

However, in the last couple of days, neither extra TV will 'see' the remote control for Sky functions.

I really don't think that it's a problem with the box or remote control. I think it's a cabling issue. I don't see any nicks, buckels or hard tight bends in either cable. Cable to both TV1 and TV2 are not that long. I would say TV1 cable is about 20 feet and cable to TV2 is about 40 feet long.

Everything works perfect from the sky box to the main TV via scart.

    Suggestions would be appriciated.

If it's a cabling issue, and if I have to re-wire, what type of cable do I need.

When u say "t bar" do you mean you have one cable from rf2 into a splitter of some sort? If so then this is your problem, to use more than one tv link you need a small amp like the t140 or f140 by global

    Tony,

Thank you for your reply. Yes it's a splitter on RF2 with the RF2 configured to give power. I tell ye, the install guy said we didn't need anything else. I'll get one of those amps anyway. Cheers.

But that WAS my problem. My problem now is that even when only one TV is connected to RF2, without the splitter, I still cannot use the sky remote to use any sky function. Also, the TV with the longer RF2 cable, the reception is very poor. Reception on the other RF2 TV and main [scart] TV is great.

I might just bite the bullet and get it rewired.

try just connecting the one feed with tv link and turn power on/off/on in the installer menu on the sky digibox. There also an F120 amp for two feeds which might be cheaper for you
