First and foremost, ensure that the response time is less than 16ms. The lower you can get it the better.

    Personally, I'm liking http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=73975
for myself at the moment, and http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=309832&view=detailed looks pretty good too, although it's not yet in stock. Both of these suggestions are 19"

Response time requirments are completley down to use! What will you being using the LCD for - Games/Movie's or Desktop/Internet/2D Graphic work? If it's Games/Mpovies then snappie is right response times are important. However if it's standard type desktop work there pretty much irrelevant.

Checkout Badass's reviews of LCD monitors over in the overclockers UK forums.
    Badass Reviews
He points out that faster LCD screens usually tradeoff image quality and viewing angle so it depends what you want your LCD for.

The most highly regarded 17" monitor seems to be the LG1780U. I have the LG1750H which has exactly the same screen without the fancy ergonomics and I find it works great.

Highly recommend having a look through these reviews:

Was very impressed with the attention to detail of LCD reviews on this site.

Also have a look a Aria. They have Dell 1905 19" LCD's for £210 + shipping so should keep within youe €350 budget. I picked up my two Dell 2001FP's from them and am very happy.

I bought this Samsung Monitor - 19" 8ms have to say its great, the picture is perfect,

I was abit worried about the fact that it only has a VGA connector......but not anymore it really is the MUTS NUTS

I am currently running a pair of 2001FP's, one in DVI and the other in VGA and the qualitive difference is very noticable.

I would not advise you purchase a VGA only option but an LCD that offers both so even if you do not have a Graphics Card with DVI now, you probably will have before you upgrade your monitor again.

    r00t69,

My previous monitor was a Dell 19" TFT ...and there was noticable quality difference between VGA and DVI connectors ... the DVI was far better quality!

But... if you look at the samsung monitor that I bought, even read a review on it... its aimed at the gamers market because of the quality of the picture etc!

I can tell you now that I have it ....that there is no effect on the picture because of the vga connector.

Its a 8ms responce time.....i think that tells enough

Thanks for the replies lads :)

I'd definitly be looking for a monitor that supports a DVI connection. I assume a 19" with it wouldn't be cheap....

Anyone know what kind of prices/selection there is in Peats? As there website only lists about 4 monitors...

    What about this? Any good?

About 10 pages of a review on it here: (Click the construction link at the end of the first page to go to the next section of the review)

Seemed to get the thumbs up from those guys, it's a good monitor alright. I've seen a few of them in the flesh and was impressed. The 20ms response time is the potential weak spot, but quite often there's a trade off between a very low response time Vs viewing angle & picture quality. Whether the response time is a big issue is a matter for yourself to decide.

Keep an eye on the price on Dell, it can fluctuate wildly (It was over €500 two weeks ago, it's listed as €391 now)
