Hows it going, im a Dublin based producer/engineer looking for bands who want to get some tracks recorded for FREE

Im making this offer so i can gather different projects for a portfolio im compilling.

There is a catch though, im only gonna be interested in recording yis if

    A) I feel i can make a good contribution to your sound and style. Im gonna want to have a say in what the final track should sound like as i want my ideas and style to be audible as its for a portfolio showing my techniques. Im sure we will end up with something that we are both happy with.

    B) It would be great if i could hear a few tunes yis have recorded in a rehearsal room so i can choose a song that would inspire me the most. Doesnt matter how **** the audio quality of the recording is, im sure ill get the jist.

My studio is based around a Apple Mac G5 running Logic Platinum 6 (for anyone who gives a ****)

If anyones interested just send me a email and ill get back to you as soon as possibe.

Also, anyone working on short films or other projects that need scores written and produced for them (for Free) send me a mail and i will get back to you too.

    hmmm...

If you want to have a say on how other peoples songs sound, you're not gonna have too much luck in your chosen career.
I too record bands, both live and studio, and trust me, if you think that you're gonna be getting working music that inspires you all the time- you're in for a big shock!

Well, part of the role of a producer is to have a say, a big say in fact if you have been hired by a label. What should a producer do, say yes to everything?

If your a good enough producer there is no reason why you should have to work with bands that dont inspire you.

These free sessions are to give a band a nice recording while i get to show my production techniques. Everyones a winner really.

I know what the real world is like but im obviously gonna try and get a few bands in to help me with my portfolio that actually do something for me, makes sense really.

Alright juno, ha ha, so this is where you spen all your time in work :)

    apple mac G5 dual 2.3gig
    Logic Platinum 6 (Sequencer)
Tannoy Reveal Passives (Passive Nearfield Monitors)
Motu 2408MK3 (24 digital input and output + 8 analogue inputs and outputs)
Focusrite Octopre (8 Channel Pre Amp)
Emagic Amt8 (8 Midi in and outs)
Mackie Control Universal (Software Controlling mixing desk)
    Roland MC303 (Piece of ****)
Behringer 4 way headphone amp. (**** but gets the job done)
    Beyerdynamic DT100's (Headphones)
    Pearl Export Drumkit
    3 X Roto Toms
also have another piece of **** drumkit which is crap but you can get some great sounds off it but not in the traditional sense. Who wants traditional anyway?

    Mics:
    AKG D112 X 1
    Sure SM57 X 4
    Rode NT1A X 2

Also have some great contacts, check out the SisterSubstance singing on the Scars track

Live room,ha ha ha ha, in my dreams. My studio is in a room in me gaff and i have a shed out the back for tracking drums. The shed aint soundproof but it is acousticly treated so i can get a decent sound.
In the process of looking for proper room

Is it just one song that you'll do?

I may be interested in the next few weeks if this will still be available, we have a fair few songs but we haven't really completely finished them yet, and i don't see the point in heading into a studio if we don't really know what we want to record.

But yeah, let me know and i can contact you in a couple of weeks? Where are you based?

Hows it going bonzai, wont be available next week meself as we are renting out a gaff in offaly to do a recording session.

Your right, best to be prepared while heading into record, let me know whenever your ready. Time wont be a problem while recording so whoever wants me to record them wont have to worry about strict deadlines, this should be fun and creative for everyone invloved.

Do you have any past recordings or even a recorded rehearsal session that i could have a listen to

    My setup is is Artane.

Geography ain't one of my strong points, Artane is where exactly......

We have a few rough recordings on tape that we did during rehearsals, but our bassist has it. Plus we won't be rehearsing as much in the next couple of weeks as we're in the middle of getting a permanent space soundproofed. But estimate that we'll should be back in the swing of things within about 2 or 3 weeks, hopefully. So maybe then if you're free we can sort something out?

BadAcid, when do you have to present your portfolio?
I might be interested, but no just yet...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,012 ✭✭✭BizzyC

Do you have any kind of schedule of available times?
Would be interested if we can sort out a suitable day.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 107 ✭✭BadAcidStudios

Howdy Spicy, my porftfolio does not have to be done for a specific date, its more of a collection of work and experience. Whenever your ready just let me know :)

Bizzy C: I can arrange to record any evening starting at 6.
Can only track drums at the weekend.

Im busy all next week and the following weekend, Sat 18,19 and 20th.
A bit of time for all of yis to get organised.

    :)
