    what are good places to post links to a site generally?

    -Obvious ones are opendirectory, and all search engines.
    any sites on similar subjects that you can find.
    Msn, yahoo, boards etc profiles then too.
    Looking to boost search engine rankings as much as to attain traffic directly.

    All the Irish directories (if the site is Irish)
    Be careful about FFA link pages

    FFA= free for all

    They're usually completely automated link farms. If you use one of those windows based apps for submitting your site to a billion search engines (right!) then you'd find a few thousand of them.
