Lay it off to Roberto Carlos

The best and easiest way to score a free kick is like this.
(This is usually from 22m or closer)
Press select to bring 2nd man next to ball.
Click r3(right anolog) down fully to lay it off
roberto carlos with his long run up will follow through his run onto ball (As roberto carlos has a very long and quick run up he will run onto the lay off, other players do not do this)
Shoot first time with square about half power.
u should be scoring free kicks in no time from 22m around 40% of the time. :D
    GOODLUCK! :)

Ive got another way of scoring with carlos from short range. Aim at the side of the goal that the goalie protects, just inside the post. You've gotta try and time it for when there aren't too many players in the area you're aiming or they'll block it. Then just hold up and tap the square. If you do it right it will fly just inside the post and and the goalie wont even budge :D

yeah - been using this for ages.
Usually works with any player with a decent power stat... scored a few starting off in Master Leagues.
You just gotta find the gap into the corner.. and hope no stupid player (tends to be of your own team) wanders into the Line of Sight.
Makes for screamers when it works :)

the way to score free kicks from about 24m and closer is to aim to the opposite side to the one the keeper is on and hold down and either left or right depending which way curls it away from the keeper when the power bar is rising and put the power bar to about half way. this almost always goes in and it dosent matter who the free kick taker is

ok i have never scored a free kick in pes4 and thought this thread would shed some light on the matter but the amount of conflicting advice here is unbelievable. One theory says aim at one side another says the other side and yet another says aim to the original side.
    Which is best????

    18-20 yards out:

If the goal is in 5 marks, the far left, mid left, middle, mid right, far right.

If the ball is on the left side of the penalty spot.
    Aim to the mid left
Go to roughly 4/5th's of the way up to the halfway mark.
    Hold X
    Hold Left

It'll spin right into the top left hand corner every time

    hold x?
dont think ive ever hit x when taking a free kick. i used to score a hell of a lot more free kicks in PES 2/3 (especially with veron)

If you're no more than a couple of yards outside the area(fairly central), just aim over the wall and tap circle. the smaller the bar gauge goes up, the better. The ball goes in nearly all the time!
