Sky mini dish manufacturers

Anyone know the name of any dish manufacturers ... in particular, the smallest mini dishes (I live in central London now)

The reason is that I have to get planning permission to put up the dish, but they have just changed the rules here and I have to supply a brochure of the dish that is to be used ... dimensions and descriptions are no good!! .. rang Sky and they dont have them to post them (so they say) and I couldnt be arsed continually chasing them so I am going after the manufacturers directly to get a brochure ...

Its a bit daft tbh, its the exact same procedure (and delay) to get permission for a 60cm wide dish as it is to put up a house

You only need a 43 cm over there, very suprised that any London borough does not allow that, unless you live in a listed building.
www.triax.dk make 60cm sky dishes, not sure about 43 cm.

Channel Master used to make the Zone 1 minidishes for England. Dunno if they still do, they are now called Andrew...
At work, there is a box of the ChannelMaster Zone1 dishes (not much use in Ireland), I'll check to see if there is a manual in it. I'd imagine they'll only be assembly instructions, unless that's OK.

Oops ..you are correct, I would be getting one of the really small dishes (43cm) ...

I thought that any London borough would have no problem with the dish itself, they used to be more interested in its positioning ... but there has been a change, according to the planning officer I was talking to someone had put down something ambiguous like dish to receive sky tv on the planning application and then put up an enormous dish, for east european/the med I guess, when questioned he said 'well, it can receive sky cant it'... they had to get the planning approval overturned by the equivalent of An Bord Planala (sp?) to get the fecker to take down the dish..... always the same, one sneaky bastid fecks it up for everyone else

Anyway .. not a brochure to be found (this ) is the dish i think (Triax.dk) ... I spoke to triax in the UK and they said they would send out something in the post ...

Byte thanks for the offer, if you do see something that could be considered a brochure let me know please and I'll see if its the same thing they are sending me... (I am assuming that the dishes themselves will be practically identical ... and they wont be able to tell the difference between them)

I checked the Channel Master dishes but sadly, the wee leaflet doesn't give any indication as to the size of the dish, only a few lines of text saying thanks for buyng CM etc... so it's no good to you.

And yeah, the dishes are generally the same dimensions regardless of manufacturer. Just make sure you get the dimensions for the Zone 1 dish (43cm) as opposed to Zone 2 (60cm).

Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Actually channel master went bust, andrew just bought the dish design and made some themselves, dont seem to be even doing that now. AFAIK all mindishes made by triax now

    Ah, I see.

Tell me, is it Triax who make the current Zone2 dishes? The ones we get from Armstrongs say EL or something on the boxes.

Also, some Sky installers use a different dish to the Triax or EL dish, it seems a fair bit weaker and definitely weaker wall bracket. Dunno who/what made them but they're pretty dire.

    .

Yes of course you are right the EL is being used now , I think EL is short for "Electronic" or similar, very similar to triax but a bit easier to put together.

Thanks for all the information gents, I got a 'brochure' (more of a factoid) from Triax today, I'm hoping that it is sufficient.... fingers crossed
