IVF treatment abroad

After 3 years of trying, it was confirmed last year that my wife can never become pregnant without the use of a donor egg.
We were initally refered to a fertility clinic in the UK.
We have now found out that due to legal changes allowing children to seek out their "natural" parents, even if they only donated egg or sperm, there is now a tremendous shortage of donors in England. We were advised to try abroad. This we will probaly do if we can afford it.
The problem however is cost. It seems that to be treated in Spain for , instance, could cost as much as €30,000 euro for 3 cycles of IVF. This we simply cannot afford.
Treatment in "developing" countries such as India seems to be much cheaper, but would it be as good and are the sucess rates similar. If anyone has any experience, good or bad, of this I would love to hear your views.

Have you attended councelling to advice you on all the implications?

It would seem to be an expensive thing to travel that far. Perhaps something within Ryanair / Aer Lingus range?

Yes, we are aware it would be expensive to travel. However european IVF prices are so high that we have to look at other options. We have not had any sort of counselling as yet. Consultant at local hospital and family doctor just told us to look at all possibilities worldwide. We just want to know if its feasable.

maybe the nice people at ivf in Ireland might be better placed to help you here?
