Ever since my first one I've been dying to get another one...I just can't decide where, my back is out, as it just freaks me out-don't ask why but the idea of someone with a needle anywhere near the vicinity of my spine freaks me out...

I can't decide whether to get another one opposite my last one, (a lil * on my hip) ie matching it. Or whether to get one on my ankle, or even (I know this sounds a bit mad but) my big toe (think it'd be pretty with sandals in the summer...ever the girlie..).

    What ye think...?

Anyone ever gotten a tattoo on their ankle..? Sore? As the skin would be moving alot, and then there'd be shoes and socks to negotiate is it a b1tch for healing..?

    Cheers.

Its not a matter of healing but anywhere where theres skin on bone is going to hurt, a few of my mates have their ankles tatoo'ed and they said it hurt a good bit

i think you should get one on the other side of your hip it'll preserve symmetry(?). As for ankle its a very mobile area so you can expect alot of ink spread after a few years.

Thats my biggest fear I'd like a tatoo on my back, but the whole pain thing I'm not so sure whether I'd want to go through with it or not. :o

Well its going to hurt. All tattoo's hurt and like I said skin on bone and a tattoo needle never make for painless results.

I'm getting my first tattoo next tuesday on my back. Not 100% where to get it yet. I am a very feminine girl really so nothing too in your face. Although the tat is big enough. I'll post up a picture when its done. Its really nice by the way......... :)

Anyway any thoughts on getting letters tattooed? 'To each his own is beautiful' in latin. How do words usually appear after a few years as some people are advising against it? Anybody?

How lettering looks after a few years all depends on how big you go with it and placement.

Its not that bad getting a tattoo on the back. I got a celtic cross done about a year ago and it took 2 hours on my upper back, didnt find it painfull at all.

The most painful parts of your body to get tattoo'd are the fleshy parts, color bones, shoulders, arm pits (was once a torture), face. Getting tattoo'd on your spne isn't really that bad....BUT...its when your tattoo goes over where your kidneys are (fleshy) that is one of the most painful places along with the ribs...Dont get me started on the ribs!

yup...i agree...with when it's by your kidneys it hurts...the fleshy bits were the most painful for me...i don't mind the bony bits so much!!

The most painful parts of your body to get tattoo'd are the fleshy parts

Surely they would be LEAST painful? Do you mean your arms, legs, stomach etc?

Inkspread on the ankle? What about on the back of the leg or the bicep / tricep (normal place to get tattoos)?

You obviously have no tattoos or really small ones

Correct, I don't. Thats why I am asking.

I always thought the back would be the most painful because of your spinal cord, and the nerves in your back. Esepcially getting a big celtic one done, i thought that would hurt loads? But then again if you think its going to hurt then it will. 'Mind over Matter' I dont plan on having one yet, but if i did i wouldnt know where to place it.

So far while getting my arms tattooed the sorest place has been the inside of the elbow, in the fold, it is very sore and not helped by the fact that you bend your arm all the time.
Before that the sorest part was the wrist over the wrist bones.
The least sore parts for me have been the fleshy parts, dunno where SteveO gets the idea that they are sorest but then everyone is different, but generally if you read Bmezine reports etc everyone says over bones is the worst, especially when you almost feel as if the needle is rattling the bone.

Well so far I've had one done on my right upper arm (fleshy bit) and one on my left shoulder blade (non-fleshy), can't say I really noticed a difference in terms of how painful they were.
