    Hi all,
I have recently bought a new computer without OS so it hasn't come all ready and working which would make it easier to identify the problem.

After installing windows xp i am noticing its prone to crashing very easily. When i try and install the soundblaster live sound card the software is telling me that there is no such card installed. The card is installed when i open the box but according to the device manager there is no audio device (wont xp install a basic driver for this when installing if it finds it?) but it does see the joystick port on the card.

I am thinking that the sound card is dodgy but what can i do to check before bringing it back? Would a faulty sound card make the over all xp system less stable?

Try pulling out the sound card and see if the problems go away... if they do --> it's the sound card, if not... I'd try reseating all the memory, gfx card etc., check all connections, I had a stability problem with my system, turned out to be a loose sata cable. Good luck with it.

Thanks, tried all that and it still persists. Reinstalling to see if it does anything.
