Not sure how many of you know about this already. This information came from the recent Star Wars Celebration 3, posted on TheForce.net
Here's what we've been told officially about the upcoming live-action TV series from Lucasfilm.

    100 episodes
    1 hour each
    based on a spinoff character
    Lucas will direct first season
write season one at one time
film season one at one time
takes place between ROTS and ANH

I've heard the casting has started in Australia. Kevin Smith is supposedly somehow attached to the project too.

theres been a lot of talk about it here already and KS isnt official yet. the pilot isnt due for pre-productions till the fall casting started before celebration and george lucas wont be directing, he will however be on the production team.....still too close if you ask me

I hope you're right. I mean, he has improved to a degree with ROTS. Some of the scenes with Palpatine and the opening battle sequence were quite impressive (but the same old problems were still there too).
It will be great to see someone (probably more than one) with a fresh and more dynamic approach directing this.
