Problem in work - need advice

Got a problem with work! Have been working in a job for 3 years and am also a college student. Do full-time there every summer and part-time during the year. Was told a month ago that I could have monday to friday for the summer. They then rang me on Thursday to say that I could only have Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Was supposed to be starting back on Wednesday as I had to take time off for college exams. Anyone got any ideas on what I can do? They're basically saying that I'm not getting fulltime and tough! Is there any laws to back me up here?

Not sure on the exact law but if your company operates the same as mine your classified as part-time when your in college and seasonal during the summer. You have no rights to demand full-time work. Your only entitled to it if your full-time all the time.

no. unless you have a contract stating your hours, you havent a leg to stand on.

It may depend on how hours you work per year - consult the Oasis.ie site for part time workers rights.
Regarding a contract I think everyone is now entitled to a written description of their conditions- again check the web site.
