Hi all, seriously considering heading to NZ for 6 months from July on, just wondering if anyone here has done it and if anyone has any particular tips. I've seen the various official sites to apply for the visa. Anyone know if the visas are high demand here, are there likely to be any left? Is it hard to get work there at the moment? Any tips greatly appreciated, thanks...

I'm going in less then 2 weeks!!!!!!!cant wait, the visa wasn't difficult to get at all.one bit of advice, well actually 2, apply for the visa direct, dont go throught the companies it will cost u twice the price, www.immigration.govt.nz/ , and secondly start saving up now,ur tickets etc are going to be over a grand and you need over 2 grand in your account to get into the country. if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask!

Cool, cheers. Do you have a job or anything sorted out there? What part are you heading to? Did I read it wrong or do you have to send your passport to london to apply? Do they charge the fee whether you get the visa or not? What was the time from when you applied to when you got the visa?
Thanks for the response, it's great to have someone a few weeks ahead of me in the planning that I can ask quick questions when I think of them. Hope the preparation is going well, take it easy,

yeah you have to send your passport, best to send it when sendin the form, otherwise you'd have to send it again later which would take twice as long.it actually only took about 2 weeks maybe less and my boyfriends took less then that.don't have jobs over there. my brother was there the last year,he's back tomorrow. he was living in Auckland but said that we should travel around first then decide where to stay!!!i still dont know.o and check out singapore airlines, they do good deals!

I was thinking of maybe starting in christchurch, seeing if I could get some sort of decent job there for a few months, do some travel at weekends and days off around the south island, then maybe spend the last month or two travelling a bit further afield. I had a look at a good jobs site earlier, there seem to be loads of IT jobs going, which is good news for me, and plenty of call centre stuff too, here's the link in case it's any use...
