So is there many fans on the board? I'm a huge fan and can't wait to see them at Oxegen this summer? Did anyone get to go see them when they played in Whelans? I was really pissed that I missed them :(

I think the album is amazing, but Im gonna wait till I see them live to see how good they really are, I know there was alot of hype when they came out, but it has kinda dropped away now, I dont think ive ever heard them played on the radio either...... Its nigh on impossible for a good band not to get hyped by the press these days.... but the public is not stupid and hopefully we will be left with loads of great albums and great bands/artists......... Anyone dig the Maximo Park album? had a vinyl single for a while that I loved (apply some pressure?), and the album seems very good after 2 listens.......

saw them in whelans but wasnt blown away by them
mostly to do with the fact that i didnt know any of the material bar four five tracks
but when i got the album on promo it blew me away and i still love it now

great album... one of the best this year so far..

Unfortunately I missed the whelans gig.

With regards to oxegen this summer, it really depends on which stage that they are playing. I hope its not the main stage as sometimes bands are a bit 'lost' on bigger stages and the teeny-boppers probably wouldn't like it that much.

Hopefully the are on the second stage or in a tent or something. Better atmosphere IMO.

I`ve had the album for a few weeks now and to be honest I`m not that impressed.

Theres nothing obviously wrong with it,but it just leaves me a bit cold.

I think the album is great but they made a big mistake leaving 'Little Thoughts' off it, thats a great song.

I think they let the producer run a bit wild on that album and he threw in stutters, echoes and delays everywhere he could and just generally screwed around with the tracks to give them an overproduced feel.

Yay for band! Boo for producer!

Just picked up this on Sunday after reading that they were one to watch this year and after a few listens, it's great stuff. IMO, they're a mix between The Libertines and The Killers. A great mix. It's pure summer music. Get up and go. Air guitar and head nodding, foot tapping etc. A bit punky. Nice (a la Jazz Club - The Fast Show ;) )

''Silent Alarm'' is fab album. Very edgy, punky and poppy and has many potential singles. The album runs out of steam towards the end but an extremely impressive debut nonetheless. Hoping to catch them at Oxegen but that will down to timetable constraints unfortunately.
