well i'm turning to the brains that keep this country running... boards.ie

my friend has been on a 6 month probation with company and appraisal came today ... but there's one catch they'll keep him on if he transfers to another area and will be reviewed again in a months time.
Now my friend doesnt want to be transferred cuz its in a god forsaken hole of a place that he wouldnt be able to get another job in...and he doesn't think he'll be kept on after the month.
So if he doesnt transfer he has to leave, so he's not entitled to welfare for 9 weeks, if he doesnt leave and goes to the hole in the bog in a months time he'll be up the creek.
so can they actually leave him go if he doesnt want to transfer?
theres no union as its a trainee manager job

He has been there for more than three months so if they get rid of him, he is entitled to at least a weeks notice or pay in lieu. As they are getting rid of him, he is entitled to social welfare immediately.

As he is a trainee manager, shouldn't he be willing to take any experience he can get?
