    HI,
Have a Mira 8 shower , it keeps tripping/shorting after a few seconds, its tripping the main fuse also. Does anyone know what is causing this,i know i should get in an expert but cant afford too and maybe its something simple that i can fix myself ?

    Hi stts,

I know some of the service charges are expensive, the cause could be an earth problem or it could be something inside the shower.

Are you in a hard water area (lime) that can cause the showers to block up.

How old is it ? the reason I ask is Mira do not like their showers to stop working.

I know I'm about to state the obvious but please don't use the shower until it has been serviced, we all want to see you posting again ;)

Thanks for the advice Pete, yes i live in a hardwater area ,the power turns on ok ,water coming from the shower is then very hot then the shower trips,it also trips main fuse ,the shower is about 10 years old, maybe it is clogged from lime and wont let the mains cold water through then overheats and trips?

I got one a while ago for 150 in Atlantic on special installed it myself , easy enough to do.

Theres not much in them tbh kill the power from the mains to upstairs and open it checking everything in order and to see what kind of system you have for buying next one, there are 2 types of shower. Cant remember them but its somfin to do with the water intake and how it takes it :)

I have a problem with my triton shower tripping out at the moment. It is because there is slight leak in the element covering and the leak is tripping out the shower. I opened up the shower and bought a new element but i havent tried to change it out yet, looks quite complicated so i think ill get onto triton about it.

I can recommend triton service guys. Quick, courteous and reasonably priced.

Parents had this problem with their Mira shower a few years back. I think it was the element on its way out that was causing the problem.

    Hi stts,

Yes I think the best option is a new shower, ten years in a hard water area is very good, I know it doesn't seem like it today but is there ever a good day for unexpected expences ?

The electric showers are designed to trip at the slightest sign of trouble, the element must be fairly coated with lime by now so the hot and cold wouldn't be getting a proper mix in the thermostat.

I went though a shower every two years because of lime build up, it got to the point where I had a spare in the garage waiting for the next breakdown.

Just trying to beat the bad time they would go ;)
